Pediatric dosing

Croup (single dose)

0.15–0.6 mg/kg/dose · single dose (may repeat after 12–24 hours) · max 10 mg/dose
Duration: Single dose · 0.15 mg/kg is effective for mild–moderate croup; 0.6 mg/kg (max 10–16 mg) is used for severe croup. IM/IV if the child is vomiting.

Asthma exacerbation (alternative to prednisolone)

0.3–0.6 mg/kg/dose · once daily · max 16 mg/dose
Duration: 1–2 days

Bacterial meningitis adjunct — IV (hospital) Hospital

0.15 mg/kg/dose · every 6 hours · max 10 mg/dose
Duration: 4 days (2–4 days) · Start with or shortly before the first antibiotic dose (Hib / pneumococcal meningitis). Not recommended in neonates.
