About PediaRx
What PediaRx is
PediaRx is a free, offline-first pediatric dose calculator for doctors, nurses and pharmacists. It covers 55 commonly used drugs — antibiotics, antipyretics, gastrointestinal, respiratory, nutritional, neurological and emergency medicines — plus an IV fluid calculator.
It was built by Dr. Shounak Pal, MBBS (Medical Officer, Government of West Bengal, India — founder and developer of PediaRx) for day-to-day outpatient and emergency practice, and is used by clinicians in India and worldwide.
How doses are calculated
- Every regimen names the ingredient it is dosed on — combination products (amoxicillin–clavulanate, co-trimoxazole) are never dosed on a summed strength.
- Dose units are explicit (mg/kg/dose, mg/kg/day, fixed dose) with maximum single and daily doses.
- Age and weight limits are encoded per regimen. If no regimen matches, PediaRx says so — it never falls back to the nearest band.
- Parenteral doses appear only for hospital or emergency indications with their own sourced regimen.
- Tablet fractions are offered only within ±20% of the target and never above a maximum dose.
- More than 200 hand-checked test cases and a boundary sweep run automatically before every release.
Sources
BNF for Children, the WHO Pocket Book of Hospital Care for Children, Indian Academy of Pediatrics guidance, AAP/IDSA guidelines, WHO programme guidelines and national/US/UK product labels. Each drug page lists the exact sources for its regimens. Every change to a dose is recorded with its source and released as a new formulary version.
Privacy and offline use
Calculations run entirely in your browser. Age, weight and sex are never stored on a server or sent anywhere. After the first visit the app, the formulary and the fonts are cached on your device, so PediaRx keeps working without a network. See the privacy notice.
